DJ Pi comes through with an excellent all vinyl Drum and Bass mix. It’s a foot-tapping, head-nodding, neck-snapping trip through a variety of D&B styles, artists and labels. Twelve records from an extensive collection have been expertly selected and mixed for your listening (and hopefully dancing) pleasure. Mega.
DJ Pi says “I was a bit unsure at first at doing a mix where pretty much every tune plays to its full length. I’m more used to trying to find my flow where I romp through the tracks more quickly to keep the energy up. I found it quite relaxing though to slow everything down and concentrate on finding good stand-alone tracks that are then given space to breathe.”

DJ Pi Bio
I started mixing in the last century (late 90s) after falling in love with drum and bass when I heard Logical Progression for the first time. That love of the liquid / intelligent side of DnB has never left me and even now I favour productions that have musicality and soul, but I’m not shy of mixing things up. I learnt to DJ while studying architecture at Cambridge, which is where I met and was inspired by Mr Magoo himself – I still have a minidisc somewhere with a set featuring Tom and Ninko (Delegates of Culture) including a brief skit about me from Ninko on the mic!
Having become a little jaded by the mainstream DnB scene in the early 2010s I began a project called “Secret Soundcloud” – a series of 30-minute mixes featuring around 12 tracks of purely unsigned productions from a multitude of talented emerging artists trying to get their music heard. This built a solid following over a couple of years and I was pleased to be invited by my long-time friend and DJ mentor Jimmy Dark to join him on www.bassport.fm for a monthly show. After much thought we came up with the name “The Platform Project” as it encapsulates the ethos of the show, showcasing the lesser-known up and coming emerging artists and labels.
When Bassport closed shop five years after we joined, I was pleased to hook up with Scott Allen (Soul Deep Recordings) – a former guest on the show – and he suggested I contact Future Sounds Radio. I’ve now been at the station for nearly 2 years and feel that it’s a great fit with more like-minded residents, such as Madcap, MsDos, Greekboy, Soul Deep, Nick Sincere, Smooth N Groove and the station owner Danielle Misfortune. I play a two-hour show at 8pm GMT on the last Saturday of the month, the next one is scheduled for 28th January and will feature an awesome guest mix from Ji Ben Gong. www.futuresoundsradio.com
